Safeguarding

Ashington CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We listen to our children and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Leaders (DSL).

The Designated Safeguarding Lead in this school is: Adele Buck - Headteacher

We have two Deputy Safeguarding Leads in this school: Katherine Martlew and Nicola Roberts (Assistant Headteacher's)

We have an additional core member of the safeguarding team; Mark Plant (Co-Opted Governor)

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. All staff undergo regular Child Protection training.

If you are worried about a child please seek advice from the websites below or contact the school. We will be able to support you through your concerns and explain the referral process.

Volunteering in School

There are many opportunities to volunteer with us - and your help really does make a difference to the opportunities we can provide for our pupils.

There are opportunities suit most diaries and interests - from reading with the children, to sewing and helping on trips.  You can find out more about volunteering by speaking to your child's class teacher or contacting our School Office.

Ashington CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS check will be required for all regular volunteers and you will be asked to undertake safeguarding training with our Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.

All staff and volunteers must comply with guidance contained our Volunteers Policy and Agreement as well as safeguarding documents which will be provided once you are accepted as a volunteer.
