Starting School at Ashington CE Primary School

Welcome to Ashington CE Primary!

Hello and a warm welcome to all the parents and carers considering our school for your children starting in September 2025!

Choosing the right school for your child is a significant decision, and we're excited that you're considering us. At Ashington CE Primary School, we want to assure you that we're not just a school; we're a welcoming, nurturing and fun community where your child can thrive and grow.

Here's what makes our school a fantastic choice:

Offer dates

You will be notified of the outcome of your application by email or letter, depending on how you applied. No information will be provided over the phone.

Applications received before 11.59pm on 15 January 2025

  • As in recent years, parents are being encouraged to apply for their child’s school place using the online system at www.westsussex.gov.uk/admissions. Applications must be submitted by the national closing date of Wednesday 15 January 2025 to be considered as on time. The online system will open on Monday 7 October 2024 at 9.00 am.

Applications received after 11.59pm on 15 January 2025

  • The national closing date is 15 January 2025 and all parents should make an application by this date.  Applications not made by the closing date cannot be considered until after all other applications have been considered. This may mean it is not possible to offer a child a place at a local school. We would therefore be grateful if you could actively encourage all parents who visit you to apply online by the closing date.

The Family Information Service (FIS) can help with finding childcare

Choosing childcare that is right for you and your family can sometimes be challenging. This can be for a variety of reasons - from complex work patterns or having a child with additional needs.

Whatever the reason, the FIS is here to help. We offer an 'extra help to find childcare' service to help parents find and access suitable childcare. We will listen to your needs and support you every step of the way. We always remain impartial and therefore do not recommend or promote one childcare provider over another.

The FIS can:

  • undertake wider geographical searches
  • explore alternative childcare types or a mix of provision
  • contact providers on your behalf
  • contact our neighbouring local authorities for information outside of West Sussex
  • organise a face to face appointment at your local Family Hub
  • help you access Early Years Funded Entitlement for your child if eligible
  • signpost to sources of assistance with paying for childcare
  • involve other agencies as required

Daily updates from Ofsted provide us with the most up to date information on all early years and childcare providers. The updates provide us with information on new providers, closures and inspection ratings, and ensures we can help you access high quality suitable childcare to meet your needs.

How to contact us:

Please circulate this information to staff and parents/carers within your setting.
